COVID-19 Vaccine Availability

COVID-19 vaccines are available and are designed to provide protection against currently circulating variants.

  • Under current CDC guidance, COVID-19 vaccination is categorized as a shared clinical decision-making recommendation. This means that patients and their healthcare providers work together to determine whether vaccination is appropriate based on individual health status, risk factors, and preferences.
  • Everyone 6 months and older is encouraged to talk to their provider about whether the updated COVID-19 vaccine is right for them this season—especially individuals with chronic conditions (such as diabetes, heart, or lung disease), weakened immune systems, or those who are pregnant. Evidence suggests the strongest protection occurs in the first 3 months after vaccination, making it advisable to consider vaccination before respiratory cases surge from November through April.

Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine

Vaccines are available at the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital immunization clinic, through TRICARE network pharmacies, and at physician offices for persons 6 months and older. TRICARE covers the COVID-19 vaccine with no out-of-pocket cost for most eligible beneficiaries.
All TRICARE beneficiaries, DOW civilian employees, DOW contractors, and Reserve personnel are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines at our facility.

  • Location: COVID-19 vaccines are given at the Immunizations Clinic, Clinic D, within the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital.
  • Hours: The Walk-in Clinic is hosted from 0800-1100 and 1300-1500 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • No Separate Appointment Needed: Shared clinical decision-making does NOT require booking a separate appointment just to talk to a doctor. This conversation can easily happen at the vaccine appointment itself.
To find an off-site TRICARE network pharmacy, you can visit Express Scripts.
